Top national triathlete Matthew Wright is currently on the World Triathlon Cup Circuit, having competed recently in the Valencia World Cup event in Spain.
Wright, who represented the island at the Paris 2024 Olympics, put in a decent showing to finish 12th.
He did have a good swim and ended up in the 10-man break onto the bike, but it was the run where he laid down his fastest ever 5 km of 14min, 48 secs to be four seconds from the top ten.
Wright has only done four World Cups since 2019, so he says he is still relearning and developing at a higher level.
Wright will be back in action in three weeks time at the Rome world cup in Italy.
