USA upset Pakistan in CWC match

In the first upset of the ICC T20 World Cup, USA handed a shocking defeat to Pakistan at Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas today.

The result of the match was decided in the super over after scores were tied at the end of the 40 overs play.

Batting first, Pakistan, led by Babar Azam’s 44 off 43, posted 159 for seven. They were struggling at 26 for three in 4.4 overs before Babar and Shadab Khan took the side out of the hot water with a 72-run stand.

Nosthush Kenjige was the pick of the bowlers with figures of three for 30 in four overs.

Chasing 160, USA ended at 159 for three after needing five runs to win off the final ball. Nitish Kumar smashed a four to take the game to the super over.

USA then set a target of 19, and held Pakistan to 13.
