Tough time for Caribbean swimmers at Olympics

Caribbean athletes had a tough time at the Olympic games today as the swimming programme got underway.

In men’s 100 metre Breaststroke Jadon Wuilliez of Antigua and Barbuda finished 2nd in heat 2, in a time of one minute 02.70 seconds to be 26 overall.

In that same heat, Alexandre Grand’Pierre of Haiti was 4th in one minute 02.85 seconds to be 28th overall.

Barbadian Jack Kirby will be swimming in heat four of the men’s 100-metre freestyle on Monday at 5 a.m. Barbados time.

Meanwhile in other results today Natalia Kuipers of the US Virgin Islands was 4th in heat one of the women’s 400 metre Freestyle, for 20th overall.

Jibril Noel of Guyana was 2nd in heat one of the men’s 400-metre Freestyle in four minutes 02.29 seconds.

That time placed him 34th overall and like the others, he did not advance.
