National rower Kyle Spennard is currently in Genoa, Italy for the 2024 World Rowing Coastal and Beach Sprint Championships.
Spennard, who is ranked fourth in the Americas, will compete in the Men’s Singles Heavyweight Senior category.
He’s accompanied by his Coach and President of the Barbados Rowing Association Anthony Yarde.
Yarde, speaking exclusively to CBC Sports, says severe weather conditions have caused a two-day delay to the start of the competition, but they are using the down time to continue Spennard’s conditioning ahead of racing.
Once the weather improves, organisers are hoping to start the competition tomorrow with Spennard set to row around 9:03 a.m. Italy time – that’s 3:03 a.m. Barbados time.
