St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots have won the opening fixture of the 2024 Republic Bank Men’s Caribbean Premier League.
Last night they defeated Antigua and Barbuda Falcons by one wicket at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua.
The Falcons were sent into bat, and posted 163 for 4 off their 20 overs.
17-year-old Jewel Andrew – the youngest player ever in the history of the CPL- top scored with 50 not out included 7-fours and a six, Fakhar Zaman added 43, while Fabian Allen was unbeaten on 24.
Andrew and Allen put on 61 for the unbroken 5th wicket partnership.
In reply, the Patriots brought the equation down to one run off the final delivery with only one wicket in hand and they got a single to reach 164 for 9.
Player of the Match Kyle Mayers topscored with 39 inclusive of 3-fours and 2-sixes.
Shamar Springer took 4 for 29.
The Falcons are back in action tonight, as they take on Guyana Amazon Warriors from 7 p.m., again in Antigua live on MCTV’s Sportsmax Channel 310.
