Around 132 athletes will be the first cohorts of the newly formed National Junior Training Squad, established by the Athletics Association of Barbados.
In an exclusive interview with CBC Sports President of the AAB Noel Lynch said a meeting with athletes, their parents and those involved in the programme will be held at the iconic Kensington Oval on Saturday at 10:00 a.m.
He says athletes were selected for the National Junior Training Squad after coaches submitted the names of those they believed had the potential to either make the CARIFTA Games team this year or in the future.
Mr. Lynch says the Training Squad will be eventually based at the soon-to-be completed 400 metre track at the Garfield Sobers Sports Complex in Wildey.
