Jack Kirby making Olympic Games debut

July 29, 2024

Celebrating his 24th birthday just two days before Friday’s opening ceremony Jack Kirby is making his Olympic games debut at Paris 2024.

And what a way he has started as being the co-flag bearer at the opening ceremony on the River Seine.

And while Jack is most known for his exploits in the backstroke event… He is one of only two men from barbados to have completed the 100 freestyle in under 50 seconds – the other being Olympian Alex Sobers.

And it was his swim of 49.13Secs at the Bahamian Championships in June of this year – a new national record – that gave him the wildcard into the Olympics in that event.

Jack is a two-time 2018 Youth Olympic Games semifinalist in the 50m and 100m backstroke.

And a 2019 Pan American Games finalist in the 100m backstroke where he finished eighth.

Now adding the Olympic games to his resume Jack will hit the water on July 30th in Paris in heat five, lane four, for the opening heats of the men’s 100m freestyle.

That was our Olympic Jack Kirby.
