B’dos wins 68 medals at Karate World Cup

The Barbados team to the International Karate Daigaku World Cup is back home with 68 medals.

They returned Thursday from Guyana to cheers from family, friends, supporters and other teammates who had returned home earlier.

The twenty-six-member team secured 12 gold, 31 silver and 25 bronze.

Coach Neil Skeete says he is extremely proud of his team, which comprised mainly first-time athletes.

He believes with more training, the team can bring home even more medals.

Jurisa Sampson, who competed in the individual and Team Kata, as well as in the Kumite, urged fellow athletes to work hard at what they do to produce the results they want.
