August 1, 2024

With the Cricket World Cup spirit still in the air, the Barbados Ryals Girls Cricket Club, in collaboration with the Barbados Cricket Association, and the University of the West Indies, are hosting the first all-girls camp.

As a league coming out of the Men’s T20 World Cup, the aim of the club is to grow cricket by 100 girls over the next year and to equip them with life skills.

Chair of Barbados Royals Girl’s Cricket Club, Dr. Sasha Sutherland, is thankful for the response she received from parents and the girls, as her hope for the camp is to create both athletes and responsible children.

West Indies under 19 Cricketer, Dicoreya Collymore, says the camp is very important, as it allows her to perfect her craft as a bowler.

Twelve-year-old Jakaiya Wickham, says the camp has been exciting for her, and she sees it becoming greater in the future.
