Barbados 2nd after Day 1 of triathlon action

Barbados are in second place after day one of the 2024 CARIFTA Triathlon and Aquathlon Championships.

The hosts have 84 points – seven behind leaders Bermuda, as these two nations are the clear favourites to lift the title tomorrow.

Trinidad and Tobago are 3rd, some 60 points adrift of Barbados.

Today in the 11 to 12 age group, Barbados got the one-two in the Boys, with Yele Renwick-Williams first and Liam Beckles 2nd.

In the 13 to 15 age group, Lillian McIntyre was 2nd in the Girls behind Louna Cariou of Martinique, while in the Boys, Bermuda’s Sanchez Smith came home first in a one-two-three sweep for the leaders.

The final day of CARIFTA is tomorrow, with the Aquathlon and the Mixed Relays from 6:30 a.m., again on the Mighty Grynner Highway.
