‘Warmer days’ starting from today

The Barbados Meteorological Services is closely monitoring the progress of an area of disturbed weather located near 12N 52W, about 483 miles / 777 km to the east of Barbados at 11:00 a.m. today, Tuesday, July 30, 2024.

There are no watches or warnings associated with this system in effect for Barbados. On its current track, this feature is expected to pass to the north of Barbados around tomorrow, Wednesday, July 31, 2024. As a result, no direct impacts are currently expected.

The public is encouraged to monitor the BMS, DEM, and GIS websites, their respective social media pages, and the local media networks for further updates over the coming days.

Environmental conditions remain unfavourable for significant development of the system in the coming days, hence, no direct weather impacts are forecast for Barbados. Indirect impacts include a reduction of wind speeds from Tuesday, July 30, 2024, through until Thursday, August 1, 2024. This will result in warmer days with increased heat stress for Barbadians. In addition, some isolated afternoon showers during this period are also anticipated.
