The Barbados Meteorological Services (BMS) reports that the “Area of Low Pressure” which it was monitoring has weakened into a Tropical Wave.
It noted in its 11 a.m. update that analysis and tracking revealed that the small disorganized low-pressure centre to the east of the island chain has weakened into a tropical wave. In addition, environmental conditions will limit any possibility of restrengthening of the system before it passes Barbados and the Lesser Antilles.
Over the next 24 to 36 hours, Barbados will be affected by two tropical waves which will bring 1 to 2 inches (25 to 50mm) in moderate to heavy showers. The possibility of thunderstorm activity and gusty winds from this afternoon, Monday, July 24, 2023, into tomorrow Tuesday, July 25, 2023, is also a high possibility. Heavy or violent showers could therefore prompt the issuance of a Flash-Flood Warning for the island at short notice.
This will be the final information statement on this weather feature.
