Tropical Wave could affect Barbados from Wednesday

The Barbados Meteorological Services (BMS) is closely monitoring a tropical wave located along 34W, about 1710 miles / 2750 km to the east of Barbados, at 4 p.m., today Sunday, June 30, 2024. This tropical wave has a low pressure associated with it and it remains separate and distinct from Hurricane Beryl.

On its current track, this feature is expected to affect Barbados sometime on Wednesday, July 3, 2024. During this time excessive rainfall, gusty winds and a deterioration of marine conditions are likely.

The public is encouraged to monitor the BMS, DEM and GIS websites and their respective social media pages along with the local media networks for further updates over the coming days.

Environmental conditions through the next few days favour slow development of this tropical wave and a tropical depression could form by Tuesday or Wednesday, 2nd/3rd July 2024 respectively.
