Barbados and the region have been advised to urgently address the loss of highly skilled workers.
The call was made by Executive Secretary of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) José Manuel Salazar-Xirinachs at the 8th Caribbean Development Roundtable in Trinidad and Tobago.
He suggests the region’s education and training systems continue to underserve their respective populations.
Mr. Salazar-Xirinachs says the issue must be tackled if the region is to achieve the high-quality learning and competencies needed to promote strong, knowledge-based economies.
The ECLAC official also presented 14 dynamic sectors for the region to consider going forward.
