Incoming CARICOM Chairman, Dominica’s Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has challenged regional leaders to make intraregional travel a joy once again, rather than a hassle.
He says free movement and reliable and affordable transport are fundamental to a truly integrated CARICOM.
Several Caribbean leaders including Barbados’ Prime Minister, Mia Amor Mottley, are in Trinidad for the 45th Meeting of the Heads of Government which opened yesterday.
Mr. Skerrit wants leaders to work towards addressing these issues, stressing there are several unfinished tasks that must be completed.
The Dominican leader wants the 15 member bloc to revive the single domestic space for intraregional travel which allows for the free movement of people.
