As Barbados prepares to cash in on hosting the ICC T20 Cricket World Cup, business leaders have been given greater insight about the substantial sums of money expected to be generated by the event.
Ambassador and Chairman of the National Organising Committee, Noel Lynch, provided the details at the 198th Annual General Meeting of the Barbados Chamber of Commerce and Industry at the Hilton Barbados Resort.
Delivering the feature address, he stressed that Barbados is ready for the World Cup and projections suggest a substantial injection into the island’s economy.
The Ambassador said staging the World Cup must go beyond cricket and average Barbadians must feel that they are part of the investment benefits.
Minister of Energy and Business Development Senator Lisa Cummins told the meeting the business of sport carries an open door for partnerships and no one has to wait for Government to take the lead.
