Minister of Foreign Affairs and St. James Central MP Kerrie Symmonds has called out what he deemed the inadequate notice given to residents of the west coast, pertaining to work undertaken on its beaches.
The matter was raised by a St. James resident during last evening’s Parish Speaks at the Frederick Smith Secondary School.
Sections of the coast are undergoing beach replenishment and emergency work by private properties, following the damage caused by Hurricane Beryl.
Mr. Symmonds says beach users are facing unsatisfactory and unacceptable situations.
He says he has raised the issue of beach access with the Minister of the Environment, pointing to the disappearance of original access points.
