Barbados is home to the Caribbean’s first and only medical clinic for women in their menopausal years.
BioConnect Medical Centre officially opened its doors on Tuesday in Canewood, St Michael, on World Menopause Day.
Prime Minister, Mia Amor Mottley, a special guest at the opening of the unique facility, believes the Centre will go a long way in breaking down barriers, as far too long, talk of women’s health has been taboo.
She says the issues affecting women and girls are real and need to be discussed, and information provided.
But, she also spoke to men in her message encouraging Barbadians to make a habit of doing health checks, including screening for various types of cancers.
