Tropical wave to affect Barbados by Wednesday

June 2, 2024

The Barbados Meteorological Services continues monitoring the progress of a tropical wave, which is located near 48W 1100km or 600 miles east of the island.

It is expected to affect Barbados early tomorrow Wednesday, July 3, 2024.

During that time, BMS says there is the possibility of flash-flooding due to moderate to heavy rainfall, occasional gusty winds and agitated marine conditions.

The wave is not associated with an area of low pressure and remains poorly organised as it moves westward at 15 to 20 mph.

Current analysis indicates that environmental conditions are slightly conducive for development over the next few days as it moves westward and is expected to remain a tropical wave as it moves into our area.

The public is advised to monitor official sources for future updates.

This information statement was issued today at 9 a.m. July Tuesday, 2 2024 and will be updated if conditions warrant.
