The Barbados Meteorological Services (BMS) continues to closely monitor a tropical wave located along 38W, about 1500 miles/2400 km to the east of Barbados moving westward at 15 to 20mph, at 4:00 a.m. today.
This system is separate and distinct from Hurricane Beryl.
The BMS says the tropical wave has an associated area of low pressure and is currently poorly organised. Over the next few days, environmental conditions are expected to be conducive for some slow developement as the wave tracks westwards across the Atlantic and a tropical depression could form during the middle of the week.
Model guidance continues to suggest this feature will affect Barbados some time on Wednesday, July 3, 2024. During this time excessive rainfall, gusty winds and a deterioration of marine conditions are likely.
The public is encouraged to monitor official sources for further updates over the coming days.
This information statement will be updated at 4:00 p.m. today.
