Barbados’ Prime Minister, Mia Amor Mottley, is optimistic the island can be a hub for Africa.
She says Barbados given its geographic location saw it becoming a hub for the wrong reasons in the times of slavery. Her message to Africa, the island can be a hub now for the right reasons between Africa and the region.
She was at the time addressing the 38th African Union Summit in Ethiopia.
Ms Mottley says the relationship with Africa has been sporadic over time and countries have to determine whether the history of separation will be the future.
Ms Mottley told African leaders it is only through unity that climate-vulnerable countries can confront the existential threat of this generation.
