Another call has been made to revitalise the Barbados Defence Force Sports Programme, which was discontinued in 2018 due to funding challenges.
The programme was responsible for the training of many national talents.
Sports Minister Charles Griffith says he is in full support of it, responding to BDF Chief of Staff Commodore Errington Shurland, who pleaded for the programme to be revived during the BDF’s 45th-anniversary celebrations recently.
The BDF Sports Programme included disciplines such as cricket, football, table tennis, and track and field. It required approximately $1.9 million in annual funding, which was provided by the Government.
Minister Griffith shared his aim for the programme in terms of logistics.
