The Sanitation Service Authority is calling for patience from householders, as it continues to face a challenge in its collection of garbage from a number of rural parishes.
This plea from Public Relations Officer of the SSA Carl Padmore.
He was speaking during the demonstration of an SSA control burning exercise at Mangrove Pond Landfill at Vaucluse in St. Thomas.
Mr. Padmore notes the Authority has been working with limited trucks for the past three weeks, many of which are undergoing repairs.
He empathises with the many householders who have aired their grievances about garbage collection woes, however he notes the SSA is doing its best under the present circumstances to rectify the situation.
Mr. Padmore also notes the SSA continues to experience a problem with human faeces within household garbage.
He says this poses several health challenges not only for workers, but also the environment.
