The Sanitation Service Authority is tonight warning individuals about disposing of animal carcasses in their garbage bins.
Public Relations Officer Carl Padmore says those found to be breaking the law will be prosecuted.
The comments come following the discovery of the carcass of an animal in a garbage bin in the Silver Sands, Christ Church area.
Mr. Padmore tells CBC News when they first received word of the issue and viewing photos, they thought it was a prank.
Resident Anthony Williams says he was told about the development by his sister.
He says the bin, with half of the animal protruding, was placed at the top of his driveway.
He adds he did his best to control the smell by applying white lime and wrapping the bin in garbage bags until it can be removed.
The matter has been referred to the Barbados Police Service and health inspectors for action.
