Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley has suggested small states may have to consider pooling investments, as work continues to phase out fossil fuels and increase reliance on renewable energy.
Citing the Caribbean as an example, she said opportunities exist for significant capacity in solar, wind and geothermal energy among others.
Ms. Mottley was addressing the Global Renewables Summit organised by Bloomberg Philanthropies.
Meanwhile, Special Adviser to the UN Secretary General on Climate Action and Just Transition, Selwin Hart says more needs to be done to keep the 1.5 degrees threshold pledged in the Paris Agreement to tackle climate change, within reach.
He says despite the record deployment of renewables, it is not displacing fossil fuels as fast as the world needs.
