Senior Environmental Health Officer for Vector Control Dale Holligan is urging Barbadians to keep their surroundings clean ahead of the impending hurricane season.
She was speaking during the National Mosquito Fair at Golden Square Freedom Park, in the City, where the life cycle, habitats, and more features of the mosquito were on display.
Ms. Holligan says people need to ensure around their premises are kept clean and there is no water collection or put treatments into the water to prevent mosquito larvae.
She advises those who live near empty lots to also check to prevent mosquito breeding.
Ms. Holligan also urges land owners to upkeep their land so containers that may be harbouring water, are easily accessible.
