The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Nutritional Security is looking into a recent situation where a pest was brought into the country and has had a negative impact on sweet potato crops.
That’s according to Minster Indar Weir, who says his Ministry has been unfairly criticised for not knowing how to manage the pest.
Given this development, Minister Weir says it is necessary for him to remind Barbadians that there is to be absolutely no sneaking of fruits, plants, animals or animal products into the island.
He says Barbados’ strict border control rules are to be followed.
