Work has started to repair Prior Park Road in St James.
It began on September 11 and will include the placing of sidewalks and wells, as well as milling and paving and the reconstruction of the roundabout. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, Santia Bradshaw, says the works fall under the CAF Project. It is being funded by a 50 million dollar loan from the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean or CAF.
Ms Bradshaw admits there have been many complaints from residents about the disruptions, but explains water mains needed to be replaced before reconstruction could begin. She says contractors are being engaged to design and construct two roads in St Thomas: Shop Hill to Content and Cane Garden to Bridgefield.
Ms Bradshaw notes that in order to minimise the disruption to residents during this work, two other roads will be rehabilitated to create alternative routes in and out of the communities.
