Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley is in Cuba leading Barbados’ delegation at the G-77+ China summit, which opened today.
Ms. Mottley, who is accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs Kerrie Symmonds, was welcomed by the Cuban Justice Minister.
The summit, held under the banner “Current Development Challenges: The Role of Science Technology, and Innovation”, runs until Saturday.
It aims to evaluate and debate the main challenges and core issues of the development of nations of the south.
Secretary General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres says national action, good governance and global action are needed, along with strong multi-lateral institutions to bring about change.
He says the call for reforms of the international finance system is gaining traction despite resistance.
