Police looking for escaped prisoner

The search is on for a prisoner who escaped custody while at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital receiving medical treatment, around 9:45 a.m.

He is 31-year-old Mario Austin, formerly of Blackman’s Tenantry, St. Joseph, who has been charged with robbery.

He was in the custody of prison officials before his escape.

Police are presently searching the surrounding area and acting on information on sightings of the prisoner.

The public is urged to contact the Police Emergency at 211 or any police station if they see Mario Austin.
