Police are investigating the unnatural death of 43-year-old Pedro Caddle, of Bissex Housing Area, St. Joseph.
According to a report made to the Police Operations Control Room, the deceased reportedly struck a female pedestrian and attempted to flee the scene.
However, a group of men gave chase and beat the driver.
When police arrived, they discovered his unresponsive body which had a number of injuries.
Ambulance service personnel were summoned but found no signs of life.
He was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical doctor and was identified by family members.
The pedestrian is presently at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in stable condition.
