The Barbados Police Service has held four people as they continue their investigations into two shootings yesterday in St, James. A 27-year-old man died after one of those incidents and a six-year-old girl was injured.
Police Commissioner Richard Boyce hosted a press conference with senior officers last night to update the public on the investigation and to clear up misinformation.
Officers noted in the first incident, which was reported at about 5:10 am, gunshots were fired at a residence owned by Ryan Hope.
Hours later, at 1st Avenue, Lower Carlton, St. James, 27-year-old Shakeri Forde was shot and a six-year-old girl near her knee.
Forde succumbed to his injuries at Sandy Crest Medical Centre while the minor was in stable condition.
Inspector Mitchell Roach, Officer in Charge of the Major Crimes Unit, says acting on information coming out of those incidents, police engaged a vehicle near Redman’s Village, St. Thomas.
He says they pursued the car into the residential area with two occupants fleeing from the vehicle. The driver continued but subsequently crashed into another vehicle and was apprehended.
