Barbadians are in for a treat tonight as the island’s junior calypsonians take to the stage in their first public appearance.
The first show of the Junior Monarch Tent comes off at the Queen’s Park Steel Shed at 6 in the evening.
Artistes will perform in both the Soca and Calypso categories.
Cultural Officer of Music Education and Producer of the Scotiabank Junior Monarch Competition, Kevin Moore says the aim is to get the youngsters comfortable on stage.
While acknowledging the 50th year of the Crop Over Festival, Mr. Moore says the development of young calypsonians will ensure they embrace the artform and share their talents with the world.
Mentors were also utilised to help bring out the best from the youngsters.
