A stabbing involving several Parkinson Secondary School students has left two needing medical attention, one of them in a critical but stable condition.
According to the Ministry of Education, Technological and Vocational Training, the incident occurred at two separate locations and the injured students were both male.
It said one student received an injury to the abdomen and was transported to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, where he is in serious but stable condition.
The other student received superficial injuries to his shoulder and the tip of one finger and was taken to the Edgar Cochrane Clinic.
The ministry said other students involved in the incident have since been interrogated and suspended.
It added that its investigations continue with assistance from the school’s Principal, Captain Adrian Ward.
The Ministry said it sent one of its officers to the school to assist with information gathering as police investigations continue into the matter.
It committed to continue working with the Barbados Police Service and school officials and to update the public accordingly.
