NPC warns of possible natural gas supply interruption

October 6th, 2022

The National Petroleum Corporation (NPC) is warning customers of a possible interruption in the supply of natural gas.

In a release, the NPC says it has been advised by its supplier, the Barbados National Oil Company Limited (BNOCL), that the supply chain has been impacted by Tropical Storm Fiona. The weather system resulted in structural damage to their supplier’s loading facility.

The NPC says on shore storage is currently in use and they are working to increase supply as soon as possible.

A shipment of liquified natural gas is currently en route to Barbados and is due on island at midnight on Friday, October 7th, 2022.

However, the company is advising customers that they may experience low gas pressure or gas outages from Friday until levels return to normalcy around Saturday, October 8th.

The NPC has thanked customers for their understanding and regrets any inconvenience caused.
