Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley is strongly defending her Government’s decision to write off a billion dollars in debt to the National Insurance Scheme.
It was a consequence of the 2018 debt restructuring programme and recently there have been calls for it to be repaid.
Responding to a question from a member of the public during a recent St. Andrew Parish Speaks, Prime Minister Mottley made it clear the decision was taken in the interest of protecting the dollar.
She queried who would have been responsible for repaying it, if it had not been written off.
