From today police will only respond to serious road accidents and fatalities.
Police Public Affairs and Communications Officer, Inspector Rodney Inniss, says the new Road Traffic Investigation Policy is now in place.
He says it is aimed at efficiently utilising limited police resources.
The policy is being endorsed by insurance companies which have agreed that their response officers will report to fender benders, and accidents resulting in non-injury and slight injuries.
President of the General Insurance Association of Barbados, Randy Graham, says they are ready for the new arrangement.
