The new Chief of Staff Brigadier General Carlos Lovell has officially taken command of the Barbados Defence Force.
While thanking his predecessors for their mentorship, the new Chief says he takes command of the BDF with confidence as he and his team are fit for purpose, with their blend of experience, qualification and relative youth.
He was speaking during a Change of Command Ceremony and Sunset Parade at St. Ann’s Fort, where he took over the reins from Rear Admiral Errington Shurland who served this country dilligently for the last three years and 17 days.
Rear Admiral Shurland reminds the new leadership team the task of shaping and building the future of the BDF remains a shared responsibility.
He urges all youth organisations to reach out and capture the nation’s youth in today’s environment.
