On this World Drug Day, the National Council on Substance Abuse has sounded a word of caution about new drugs emerging on the island over the last seven years.
They include methamphetamine, ecstasy and synthetic cannabinoids.
Information and Research Officer at the NCSA, Dr. Johnathan Yearwood says these drugs are dangerous, more so when mixed with other drugs.
He notes research also shows alcohol remains the leading legal drug consumed and marijuana and cocaine the leading illegal drug.
Dr. Yearwood says efforts continue to educate young Barbadians of the dangers, as he shared information from recent findings.
