August 12, 2024

The Rotary Clubs of Barbados and the Cave Shepherd Group have come together to help boat owners and those in the fishing industry restore their livelihoods post Hurricane Beryl.

They have donated 30 thousand dollars to the effort.

Already the Rotary Clubs have provided 40 thousand dollars to help ten boat owners get their boats back into the water.

President of the Rotary Club of Barbados, representing all Rotary Clubs on the island, Arlene Ross says when Hurricane Beryl struck, they immediately sprang into action.

Cave Shepherd Foundation Community Engagement Lead, Dale Niles says they understand the importance of supporting the initiative.

President of the Bridgetown Fisherfolk Association Adrian ‘Muscles’ Wiltshire says while he did not lose a boat, seeing the decimation to the industry has been painful for him.

And similarly, the President of the Oistins Fisherfolk Association, Natasha Clarke says getting the industry back on its feet is major.
