Barbados will next year acquire another 10 electric buses.
Deputy Prime Minister, Santia Bradshaw provided the update during her contribution to Debate on a Resolution on the Barbados Economic Recovery and Transformation (BERT) Plan 2022.
Discussions are ongoing with the Ministry of Energy in this regard.
Ms. Bradshaw, who is also the Minister of Transport, Works and Water Resources, says Barbados’ electric bus fleet has made the country the envy of the region.
With a greater uptake of school children utilizing state-owned Barbados Transport Board buses, she says challenges are arising with the availability of buses.
