Over 20 school canteen concessionaires and vendors are to benefit from training this weekend that will aid them in their efforts at presenting healthier alternatives to school children.
The Ministry of Education, Technological and Vocational Training will on Saturday evening be conducting a session on the Barbados National School Nutrition Policy entitled ‘Presenting Healthier Alternatives’.
It will be held at the Barbados Community College.
The training is a collaborative effort with the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Barbados and the Barbados Childhood Obesity Prevention Coalition.
During the session, there will be healthy cooking demonstrations and discussions on strategies to employ when purchasing food items.
Participants will also receive the alternative snack and beverage lists and there will be a display of food items that are healthier options, from manufacturers and distributors.
