Met officials monitoring two areas of concern

September 11, 2024

The Barbados Meteorological Services is closely monitoring the progress of two areas of concern, located about 15N 48W and a low-pressure area near 10N 35W at 11:00 a.m.

This is about 1200 km and 2820 km (or about 745 and 1750 miles) to the northeast and east respectively of Barbados.

Environmental conditions are conducive to the slow development of these systems over the coming days.

They are expected to track northeast of Barbados over the weekend.

These weather systems are not expected to have any direct impacts on the island.

However, the presence of these systems in the region will bring periods of light wind speeds, uncomfortably warm days and heat stress.

Additionally, localised afternoon showers will remain likely during the coming days.

The public is encouraged to monitor official sources for further updates.

This information statement will be updated at 11:00 a.m. tomorrow.
