Man dies in Black Rock shooting

A man lost his life in a shooting incident on Monday night, bringing the number of homicides in Barbados to 32.

The Barbados Police Service notes that around 9:15 pm on Monday, August 26, 2024, personnel from the Black Rock Police Station responded to Murray Land, Black Rock, St. Michael, where a shooting incident was reported.

The victim in that shooting has been identified as 35-year-old Kyle Irvin Haynes, of Dear’s Land, Black Rock, St. Michael.

The police press release added that “investigations revealed that a group of men were sitting in and around the gallery of a house when two masked assailants walked up upon them and started shooting. The men scampered away. After the melee, one man was discovered motionless on the ground. He had what appeared to be gunshot injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical doctor who visited the scene.

“Police investigations are continuing.”

The Service is also asking “anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who may have knowledge or information as to the circumstances is advised to contact the Black Rock Police Station at 417 7500, Police Emergency 211 or Crime Stoppers hotline 1800 8477 (TIPS).”
