Local beekeepers will now be able to properly feed their bees, after challenges doing so with the passing of Hurricane Beryl.
The Association of Caribbean Beekeepers’ Organisations has donated 6,000 pounds of pollen substitute, which is to be used as protein for the insects.
Senior Agricultural Assistant and Lead Officer for Apiculture in the Ministry of Agriculture Bernard Thompson says the donation of 150 bags of pollen is to assist just over 90 active beekeepers with over 900 managed colonies on island.
