Barbados is one step closer to having its first green hydrogen power plant.
The licence for the project, which is to be undertaken by developers HDF Energy – a leading global company in hydrogen energy – has been granted.
The announcement was made by Minister of Energy and Business, Senator Lisa Cummins during the launch and ribbon cutting for the HDF Caribbean office.
The plant will be the second of its kind developed by HDF in the region, with the first already under construction in French Guiana.
Senator Cummins says the licence was the most important hurdle to be crossed.
She says come January Barbados, along with its development partners, will be launching a wind project.
