Hurricane Lee, which is currently at category 2, is forecast to become a major hurricane later today.
While there are no watches or warnings associated with Lee, the Barbados Meteorological Services continues to monitor the system.
Hurricane Lee is currently located near 16.4N 50.0W and moving west northwestward at 15 mph.
The minimum central pressure is 983 mb with maximum sustained winds of 105 mph.
Model guidance is consistently tracking the system well north of the Eastern Caribbean Friday into Saturday. Therefore Barbados will not be directly impacted by Lee.
However, as Lee moves northwestward, wind speeds here in Barbados are forecast to decrease and result in very hot and uncomfortable conditions today into Friday.
Additionally, some shower activity is likely across some eastern districts tomorrow afternoon.
Marine operators can expect some choppy conditions and northerly swells over the next few days.
The next update will be at 11:00 a.m. tomorrow.
