The Mia Mottley Government is about home ownership for Barbadians, not home rental.
Word of this from Minister of Housing Dwight Sutherland as he addressed a Barbados Labour Party Branch meeting at Cuthbert Moore Primary School for the St. George North Constituency.
Minister Sutherland stressed that the Government was trying to move away from the whole rental concept.
He wants to see average people owning their own properties in Barbados as according to him paying rent is dead money.
Minister Sutherland says this was clearly spelt out in the recent Budget and Financial Statement of Government which focussed on three key areas: growth, resiliency and people-centred programmes.
Minister Sutherland says it is all about building generational wealth so poor people can get away from the cramped up housing conditions that they have been subjected to.
