Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley believes the journey by Barbados in becoming a democracy and an independent country has been taken for granted by too many.
She shared the view in her feature address during the July 26 Commemoration Ceremony in observance of the Day of National Significance in Golden Square Freedom Park.
During the event, Barbados paid homage to its ancestors.
Ms. Mottley wants July 26, given its importance to Barbados, to be etched in the mind of every Barbadian.
Pan Africanist and MP for St. Michael East, Trevor Prescod wants citizens to recognise the value of people such as Marcus Garvey, Clement Payne and Israel Lovell.
