Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley, says the inequity in financing is choking mitigation efforts to save the planet.
Ms. Mottley made the comments as Barbados and other CARICOM members held a high-level dialogue with the COP28 President Designate and the UAE’s Special Envoy for Climate Change, His Excellency Dr. Sultan Al Jaber.
The hybrid meeting at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre with some delegates attending via Zoom, addressed how the delivery of key pillars could meet the needs of climate-vulnerable states and attain the 1.5 degrees Celsius goal.
His Excellency Dr. Sultan Al Jaber says it is about having a fair energy transition with people at the centre. He says discussions on the agenda have been taking place over a six-month period.
